Vladimir Lisinac was born in Krusevac, Serbia to parents Zivka and Radomir Lisinac. He went to “Vuk Karadzic” elementary school, where he excelled at mathematics, even winning the 1st prize in the regional and placing 3rd in the nationals as a fourth-grader. While at Vuk, Vladimir took part in the school's athletics including making the varsity team for soccer, handball, volleyball, and basketball. With the clear gene for sports, heady Vladimir enrolled into a prestigious “Gimnazija” High School in Krusevac. After signing a five-year professional basketball contract with KK Krusevac Napredak at the tender age of 15, Vladimir could pursue the best education while fulfilling his obligations towards his basketball club. Vladimir was the first from his generation in his hometown of Krusevac to be selected to the Yugoslavian Cadets list of Top 30 young basketball prospects.
Vladimir's path to filmmaking started back in Krusevac, Serbia, where he learned the English language by watching American cinema. At the age of 19, he moved to the U.S. to pursue higher education while playing the game of basketball at NCAA Division I level. He found home at California Polytechnic State University where he majored in International Business Management earning his Bachelor of Science in 2005. As a student in San Luis Obispo, he worked on several screenplays which allowed him to hone in on his skills at the screenwriters' craft.
In 2007, Vladimir formed Metakwon Filmworks alongside his brother and made his transition from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area to create balanced representation for the business aspect of the movie business and also to raise a family in the suburbs of the East Bay. Vladimir brings his business savvy, creative spirit and financial expertise to filmmaking, where in 2012 he solely completed financing, producing and executive producing 15-time award winning debut film, “Along the Roadside.”
For his encore Vladimir has financed and executive produced his first Serbian project! This is a double whammy - a biographical feature film and TV series titled “Toma,” based on the true story of the legendary career and life of a Yugoslavian singer & songwriter Toma Zdravkovic. The principal photography on “Toma” concluded on April 5, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois and the world premiere happened on August 20, 2021 in front of 3,000 people of a sold out open theater at Sarajevo International FIlm Festival. Film's domestic premiere took the breath away of 3,500 people the following night at Niski Filmski Susreti in the city of Nis, Serbia. Leading up to the 30th anniversary of Toma’s passing and in his honor film "Toma '' premiered in front of a sold out Sava Center audience of 4,000 strong to a 10-minute standing ovation in Balgrade's most famous theater house. Since its theatrical release on September 15, 2021 film "Toma '' has been seen by over 1.2 million theater goers making it the highest grossing movie in Serbian box office history!
Most recently, Vladimir served as financier and executive producer on The Islander, adventure/fantasy first installment of a magical story written and directed by Vladimir's brother Zoran Lisinac. The Islander is in post-production and its expected release is slotted for the summer 2023.
